We Will Remember...
In Remembrance of those who lost their lives on September 11,
2001
"We Will Remember" is a moving tribute to America's fallen from the
tragedies of 9-11-01. The piece begins with a narration of the day's
events, from a normal morning in a busy city, to a president asking us to
stand united. The music opens with the vision of a sparkling sunrise
shown over a city just waking for the biggest day of its history. The
main statement appears, representing not only New York City, but America
as a whole. In the center section, which is very brief, a suspended
cymbal roll leads into several measures of unrest, which are followed by
continual downward progressions in many parts, signifying the towers falling
down. The remaining section of the piece includes a time of mourning,
but with the opening theme restated, signifying that the original spirit
of America as a whole still stands. Shades of taps appear, followed
by a final statement of the main theme.
