HELPFUL HINTS FOR
SELECTING YOUR PICTURES |
You probably have dozens, hundreds,
or even thousands of pictures that you wish to include in a special DVD. The process for selecting the pictures you want to include may seem
difficult. Here are just a few suggestions to help you narrow down
the pictures for your video.
1) Separate your pictures
into 2 separate piles
Make a "YES" pile and a "NO" pile. Pictures in your "NO" pile should include
pictures that are blurry, out of focus, or of poor quality. Photos of scenery
or objects that are not directly connected to the focus of your video should
also be set aside. Once you have completed your "NO" pile, remove it from
your working area.
2) Go through your
"YES" pile
All photos have special meaning. However, certain photos work well together
in this type of production. Candid photos show character and personality.
Photos of important events and moments are precious. Look for the "highlights"
of focus of your video. Remove multiples of the same shot. Try to complete
the major parts of the time you are trying to cover. For example, for a 50th
birthday, include photos of milestone birthdays, but not 28th birthday (unless
the subject of the photo is especially special). Once you have gone through
your "YES" pile, set aside any photos you feel you could leave
out.
Also, look at the size and color
quality of your photos. Photos smaller than wallet size may be slightly
blurred when enlarged to fit on the screen. Photos up to 8x10 can be
used in their entirety. Photos larger than 10x13 may not be submitted
for the video. While we can enhance your photos for good color, look
for photos with good natural color.
3) Sort your "YES" pile
by date or theme
Once you sort your "YES" pile by date or theme, you will be able to see if
you have too many pictures of one particular time, place, or item. You want
to try to cover as many parts of your subject as possible.
4) Review your "YES" pile
with package contents
Sometimes, people will find they have kept many more photos in their "YES"
pile than their budget will allow. Take a look at the order form and decide
on which video package you wish to purchase. Compare this with the photos
you have selected, and get the two to match up.
Once you have your photos picked,
review the guidelines on the related submission page. Then print and complete
the order form and mail (or deliver) your
photos and related materials with payment, and we will get started on your
project! For any questions not covered on these pages, please
